The Big White House at Pett Level, East Sussex was designed by the owner Tom Watkins as his tribute to 1930’s Bauhaus architecture. After starting out his working life as a designer for Terence Conran, Tom then changed career, managing bands such as The Pet Shop Boys in the 1980’s and replicated the design of his recording studios in the unique design described by Kevin McCloud as a ‘perfect little sugar lump’ when the house build was shown on Grand Designs in 2004.
